Who can get it

You live permanently (main home) in an area of the decision: Thesprotia regional unit, Municipality of Metsovo, Municipality of Pangaio, Xanthi, Rhodope, Evros, Kastoria or Florina regional units (the exemption applies at the main-line toll station of your area)

What it is

Under decision ΔΝΣ/οικ.84646/ΦΝ 393/27.11.2017 (Government Gazette B 4156/2017), permanent residents (main home) of certain areas next to the Egnatia Motorway do not pay tolls at the main-line toll station of their area: - Thesprotia regional unit (Igoumenitsa, Souli, Filiates): Tyria station; - Municipality of Metsovo: Pamvotida and Malakasi stations; - Municipality of Pangaio: Moustheni station; - Xanthi and Rhodope regional units: Iasmos station; - Rhodope and Evros regional units: Mesti station; - Evros regional unit: Ardanio station; - Kastoria and Florina regional units: Ieropigi station.

Law 5260/2025 (article 3), which ratified the Egnatia Motorway concession, allowed only this residents' exemption to continue, on a State order. Under the order of 30/12/2025 it applies for two years from the start of the concession (31/12/2025), i.e. until the end of December 2027, extendable by one year. The exemptions for unemployed people and businesses were abolished. At the side toll stations you pay as usual.

The vehicle must be yours. Certification is now done by the Egnatia Motorway concessionaire, on an online platform running since 13/3/2026. Holders of an old card who were not certified by 13/6/2026 have lost the exemption and need to apply again.
