What it is

This specific OPEKA programme covers, among others, physical, intellectual or mental illness or disability of at least 67%, end-stage renal failure of at least 80%, or insulin-dependent type 1 diabetes of at least 50%. Eligibility also depends on insurance or pension status and the programme’s other rules. The amount paid is EUR 338 per month. The EUR 393.35 figure applying from 1 January 2026 is a comparison threshold for another public disability payment, not the amount of this benefit.

On the last working day of each month. Ahead of Christmas and Easter it may be paid up to 10 days earlier, by decision of the Minister of Social Cohesion and Family (Law 4520/2018, art. 4(6)).
