What it is
The Prime Minister announced at the 90th Thessaloniki International Fair (6/9/2026) zero income tax for professional farmers with income up to EUR 20,000. According to the examples in the announcement, a farmer declaring EUR 20,000 will pay no tax (instead of EUR 1,183), while a farmer with EUR 30,000 of income will pay EUR 2,183 instead of EUR 5,083. In the first phase the measure concerns almost 50,000 producers. No law has been passed and no AADE guidance has been issued yet: the exact terms and the tax year from which it applies will be set by law.
Announcement (2027 draft State Budget, October 2026): from tax year 2026 the income tax rate on farming income up to €20,000 becomes zero; it is for individuals who are farmers by main occupation, with at least 50% of their total income from farming, and concerns 47,091 farmers. It has not been legislated yet; this will be updated once it is published in the Government Gazette (ΦΕΚ).
