How we check benefits
Benefits drive decisions about real money. So we say openly where our details come from, how we check them and where our responsibility ends.
Every benefit with its official source
For every benefit we record the official page its details come from and, where there is one, the legal basis (a Government Gazette issue, a law or a ministerial decision). On the benefit’s page you find them under «Where this comes from», with a link to the official source.
We accept only official public sources: the Government Gazette, gov.gr, the ministries, bodies such as OPEKA, DYPA, e-EFKA and AADE, the official application platforms, Diavgeia and the municipalities. Every link is checked automatically against a list of allowed official addresses. News sites, blogs and forums are never used as a source.
Some discounts come from companies, not from the state. They are always marked «Private offer»: they are not state benefits, and the company sets their terms.
Approval before publication
A benefit becomes active only after a myepidoma administrator approves it, comparing its details with the official source. Approval does not go through if the source is not official or if the automatic checks described below fail. Benefits not approved yet are shown with the label «Under review», so you know to confirm them at the official source.
What the labels mean
Every benefit shows its status at the top of its page:
- Active
- an approved benefit that accepts applications now or has no deadline.
- Upcoming
- the application period has not opened yet.
- Applications closed
- the benefit continues, but this round’s applications have closed; wait for the next round.
- Ended
- the round or the programme has ended or been replaced. We keep the page for reference.
- Under review
- we have not checked the details yet; confirm them at the official source.
- Private offer
- a company’s discount or offer, not a state benefit.
The «last checked» date
On every benefit’s page we show the date we last checked its details against the official source. Authorities change amounts and deadlines; if the date is old, open the official page too before you apply.
Automatic checks of the eligibility rules
The criteria of every benefit are recorded as structured rules (for example an income limit, an age or a place of residence), and every rule of an active benefit points to the part of the official source it comes from.
On every new benefit or change, more than 30 automatic checks test the rules: that every criterion matches a question of the check, that at least one realistic citizen can get the benefit, that limits work exactly above and below their value, and that test citizen scenarios give the expected result. If a critical check fails, the change is not published.
Results are indicative
The check shows which benefits you may qualify for, based on your answers. It is not a decision: you apply on the competent authority’s platform, and the authority decides on your official records. myepidoma is an independent information platform, not a government body.
Found a mistake?
Every benefit’s page has a form to tell us what is wrong. You can also write to us from the contact page. We check every report against the official source; when one leads to a correction, we publish a short summary of what changed on the Reports page, without your message and without your name.
