How to apply
The steps to apply yourself. Free: you don’t need to pay anyone.
Required Documents
Usually the details gov.gr already holds about you are enough.
Step by step
- 1
Check whether your car is exempt
Fully electric passenger cars (BEV) are not charged annual road tax, regardless of when they were first registered. You submit no application: the exemption is applied automatically from the vehicle's details in the registry.
Open the page - 2
Check the details on your vehicle registration
Check that your registration document lists the fuel type as electric and CO₂ emissions as zero. For vehicles first registered from 1/11/2010 onwards the tax is calculated from emissions, so wrong or missing details are the most common reason a charge appears.
- 3
Check your road tax notice on myCAR
When next year's notices are posted, usually towards the end of the year, log in with your TaxisNet credentials via myAADE > Applications > Popular Applications > myCAR and open your road tax notice. For a fully electric car the amount shows as 0 EUR.
Open the page - 4
If an amount appears, ask for a correction in time
If myCAR shows road tax due even though your car is fully electric, ask for the details to be corrected before the payment deadline expires, so you are not charged a penalty. Submit a request through the "My Requests" application on myAADE or contact your local tax office. If the error is on the registration document itself, contact your Region's Transport Directorate.
