A 0% rate (up to age 25) or 9% (ages 26–30) on taxable income up to €20,000, instead of 9% (up to €10,000) and 20% (€10,000–20,000). What it is

Under article 3 of Law 5246/2025, from tax year 2026 (income from 1 January 2026) the tax rate on taxable income up to €20,000 is: - 0% for taxpayers aged up to 25; - 9% for taxpayers aged 26 to 30.

Income above €20,000 is taxed on the normal scale; people who earn more keep the reduction on the part up to €20,000. The reduction covers income from employment, pensions and business activity and is applied automatically, through tax withholding and the tax return, with no application.

Without dependent children the gain is up to €2,900 a year for people up to 25 and up to €1,100 for people aged 26–30. With children the normal rate is already lower, so the gain is smaller; and on a low wage or pension the article 16 tax reduction would have cut the tax anyway.
