Right of Public-Sector Appointment for Relatives of Victims and for the Injured of the Tempi Rail Disaster (Law 5039/2023, Art. 61)
One family member of each person who died in the Tempi railway accident (28/2/2023) can be appointed to the public sector or the wider public sector without a competition. The same right applies to those who were treated in an intensive care unit (ICU) or have a permanent disability of at least 67% as a result of the accident (it passes to a spouse, child, parent or sibling if they cannot be appointed).

Application for appointment
With your formal qualifications, the regional unit (nomos) where you want to be appointed and a declaration that there is no impediment to your appointment
Solemn declarations of waiver
From the relatives who come before you in the order of appointment, and your own declaration that no other beneficiary has been appointed
Educational qualifications
Death certificate
And a certificate of the cause and place of death from the Fire Service or another public authority or from a state hospital
ICU treatment certificate or disability certification
For those injured: a certificate from the hospital of ICU treatment immediately after the accident, or a KEPA (Disability Certification Centre) certification (or one from the Supreme Health Committee) of a disability of 67% or more “for life”, stating the cause of the injury
Family status certificate
Showing the degree of kinship with the person who died or was injured; and the cohabitation agreement, if there is one

What it is
Article 61 of Law 5039/2023 allows the appointment to the public sector, to legal entities under public law, to first- and second-tier local authorities (OTA) and to bodies of the wider public sector (except the companies of Chapter B of Law 3429/2005) of one (1) family member of each person who died in the Tempi railway accident of 28 February 2023: the spouse or cohabiting partner or a relative up to the second degree. Priority goes, in order, to the spouse or cohabiting partner, first-degree blood relatives, first-degree relatives by marriage, second-degree blood relatives and second-degree relatives by marriage; among relatives of the same rank, the eldest has priority. The same right applies to those who were treated in an intensive care unit (ICU) or have a permanent disability rate of at least 67% as a result of the accident; if they cannot be appointed for health reasons, the right passes to their spouse or cohabiting partner or to one of their children, and if they have no spouse or cohabiting partner, to one parent or one sibling. The application is sent by registered letter to the Ministry of the Interior within a strict, non-extendable deadline of five (5) years from the date of death or of admission to the ICU (or from reaching the minimum age for appointment or completing military obligations). The general qualifications for appointment and the formal qualifications for the post are required (Presidential Decree 85/2022). Separate measure: the Deposits and Loans Fund decided to write off debts from loans of those who died and of their close relatives (Board decision 3846/3/21-3-2024).
