€500 allowance for public servants: in consultation

By myepidoma editorial team

Update 26 October 2026: We removed «Who will get it» from the points not settled yet. The draft law already defines who is entitled.

A Ministry of National Economy and Finance bill in public consultation until 1/11/2026; it has not been passed. Article 25 provides a Christmas allowance «of five hundred (500) euros», «paid in a separate payroll run, only on 16 December each year» to public-sector staff. Under the bill, «the allowance is granted from the year 2027».

Do not act before the official announcement. We never ask for data or payment.

What it means for you

If you work for the State, a municipality or region, an entity or company they own, as a lawyer on a salaried mandate, as an elected local official with a monthly allowance or as a member of an Independent Authority paid monthly, the bill says you will receive the allowance without applying, from the body that pays your salary. The full amount goes to anyone paid for the whole reference period of «twelve (12) months»; otherwise «one twelfth (1/12)» for each full month, and pro rata for part-time work. The allowance «counts as pensionable pay» and carries social insurance contributions. Pensioners are not covered. The terms may change until the law is passed.
