Announced, not yet passed: new nursery voucher limits to apply retroactively
A Ministry of National Economy and Finance bill tabled in Parliament provides, in article 24, that the changes made to the EETAA voucher by joint decision 168039 ΕΞ2026 (Government Gazette B 6419) «apply retroactively, for the second cycle of the Programme (2026-2027), from 1.9.2026». This covers the annual voucher values, which the decision raised by 10%, for infant and child nurseries, and the new, higher income limits. Today the decision applies from its publication in the Gazette, in October. The bill has not been passed yet.

What it means for you
If you have an EETAA voucher for an infant or child nursery for 2026-2027, the bill provides that the EETAA payments for the period «from 1.9.2026 until the entry into force» of the decision, those «already made or pending», «are adjusted to the annual spending limits and the income criteria of that decision». The bill does not say whether the amount families pay to the centre changes, or when the adjustment will be made. Under the decision, a full voucher needs 2025 family income «up to €29,000 for up to two (2) children» (a higher limit with more children) and a reduced voucher up to «€37,000» for families with up to two children; families with three or more children qualify for a reduced voucher «without income criteria». Those who already hold a voucher from call 30306/2026 do not apply again. For new beneficiaries EETAA will issue a second call, which has not been posted yet.
