What it is
DiscoverEU (an Erasmus+ action) gives 18-year-olds a pass to travel around Europe. In the autumn 2026 round, people born between 1/1/2008 and 31/12/2008 who are citizens or residents of an EU country or a country associated with Erasmus+ can apply. Applications are made on the European Youth Portal from 1 October 2026 (12:00 Brussels time) to 15 October 2026 (12:00 Brussels time). They include a quiz of 5 multiple-choice questions; the around 40,000 passes are shared out with a quota per country. Those selected travel by train for up to 7 days within a period of up to one month, between 1 March 2027 and 31 May 2028, and also get the DiscoverEU discount card.
