Hellenic Train — Ticket Discounts for Special Categories (Young People, 65+, Students, Pupils, Large Families, Disabled, Armed Forces)

Private company offer — not a state benefit. Hellenic Train gives ticket discounts (1st and 2nd class) to special categories of passengers: - young people up to 24: 25% (youth ticket); - passengers over 65: 25% (on some routes combined with the 20% return discount); - university students and students of public vocational schools (SAEK, ΣΑΕΚ): 25%, and 50% between permanent home and place of study (also for Erasmus students at Greek universities); - pupils of public or state-recognised private primary or secondary schools: 50% between school and home; - children aged 4 to 12: 50%; under 4 free without a separate seat (50% if a seat is needed); - members of large families (4 or more children): 50% (for children up to 23, or up to 25 if studying or doing military service); - people with disabilities and their companions: 50%; - serving military and civilian staff of the Army, Navy and Air Force General Staffs, and conscripts: 25%.

Proof is shown when the ticket is issued and at inspection. The discounts do not apply on the Pelion and Katakolo – Pyrgos – Olympia tourist trains; special fares apply on the Patras suburban railway and the Lianokladi – Stylida line.
