Paid training, work placement and certification (€5/hour) for unemployed people in Western Macedonia and Megalopoli (INE GSEE, Just Transition)

An action of the «Just Development Transition 2021-2027» programme for the areas hit by the phase-out of lignite. It is run by the Labour Institute of the Greek General Confederation of Labour (INE GSEE) as the beneficiary of the operation «Integrated interventions to strengthen the workforce for the just transition to the post-lignite period», included in the programme by a decision of the Ministry of National Economy and Finance (ADA 6Η21Η-ΜΘ3).

It is for 3,000 unemployed people: 2,250 in Western Macedonia and 750 in the municipalities of Megalopoli, Tripoli, Gortynia and Oichalia. Each participant gets counselling, 60 hours of training in horizontal skills (digital, green or personal), specialised vocational training and a work placement in a business, and certification exams. There are two tracks: 250 hours of theory and 250 hours of placement for people entering the labour market or with little experience, or 300 hours of theory and 200 hours of placement for a change of occupation. Absences of up to 10% reduce the training allowance accordingly; above that you get no allowance.

Applications are assessed in cycles with points (months of continuous unemployment and participation in other training programmes in the last five years). The call stays open until the places are filled: on 30/09/2026 it reopened for unemployed people in Western Macedonia; applications from employees have closed.
