Residents of Agia Varvara on a low income, unemployed, single parents or people with a disability can get reduced fees or free attendance at the municipality's cultural and sports classes, after an application and a social-work assessment. Unemployment-card holders and families with three or more children or a single parent get 50% off.

When you register for the class, bring a family-status certificate (registered citizens) or a utility bill (residents) and the proof for the discount: a long-term unemployment card with your income (family income below €10,000 for a pupil under 18, individual income below €5,000 for an adult), or legal proof of a family with three or more children or a single parent.

Reduction or free attendance on social grounds: apply
Apply to the municipality's Social Services with the documents they ask for. A social worker writes a report and the Social Service makes a recommendation.

The Municipal Council decides the reduction or free attendance. Registration and exam fees are still paid.

What it is
The Municipality of Agia Varvara reduces or waives the fees of its cultural classes (Municipal Conservatory, Dance School, Visual Arts Centre) and its sports classes in two ways.
1. On social and economic grounds: after an application, a social worker's report and a recommendation from the Social Service, the Municipal Council decides a fee reduction or free attendance for pupils who are registered citizens. Registration and exam fees are still paid. For 2025-2026 the Council approved 50% reductions and full waivers on grounds such as low income, unemployment, single parenthood and disability.
2. 50% discount: for residents with an unemployment card and for families with three or more children or a single parent, for each pupil, on one course of one school or one sports class (not Pilates Reformer). With an unemployment card: for a pupil under 18, a long-term unemployment card of one parent and family income below €10,000; for an adult, a long-term unemployment card and individual income below €5,000.
The rules also apply for the 2026-2027 school year. Traditional dance classes have no discounts, except 50% for members of the same family.
