What it is
Action 1.6.2 of the "Fisheries, Aquaculture and Sea" programme (PALYTH) 2021-2027 compensates owners of coastal fishing vessels for gear destruction and catch loss caused by protected marine species. It covers 01.01.2022–31.12.2024, applies throughout Greece, and funds 100% of the eligible amount.
The amount depends on the vessel: EUR 12.32 per fishing day for vessels with a vessel monitoring system (VMS); for vessels without VMS an annual compensation of EUR 805 (overall length under 6 m) or EUR 1,763 (6 m to under 12 m), paid once for the whole period.
Applications were made online from 22.11.2024 to 15.12.2024 and the call has closed. As of 28.09.2026 no new call has been published; the action's ministerial decision allows further calls.
