What it is
For 2026 the Municipal Water and Sewerage Company of Sitia (DEYAS) applies a reduced tariff with 50% off the water prices (decision 124/2025, approved by the Sitia Municipal Committee) for:
- large families (including a parent without a spouse with three children, whom the law treats as a large family);
- three-child families with yearly income up to €35,000, until the youngest child turns 25;
- needy families, on a committee's recommendation;
- people with a disability of 50% or more;
- long-term unemployed people, with a DYPA certificate of at least 2 years of unemployment and a tax assessment showing income up to €7,000.
The reduced tariff applies to one household meter that does not supply business premises. For example, in zones A to E the first band (0-12 cubic metres) costs €0.13 per cubic metre instead of €0.26.
