What it is
Action 2 of intervention Π3-70-1.2 of the CAP Strategic Plan 2023-2027: keeping the traditional vine-growing practice in the vineyard of the islands of Thira (Santorini) and Thirasia.
Those enrolled commit for 5 years: a) to keep their vineyards in their traditional form, with the traditional pruning (basket-shaped «γυριστό» or «στεφανωτό», basket-shaped with «κουλούρια» or «πόστες»), and b) to keep an ecological buffer strip at least 0.5 metres wide around the plot, weeded by hand only.
Amount: €765 per enrolled hectare a year. The action's annual budget is €700,000.
The Ministry of Rural Development and Food has announced a call within 2026, which will also be the first payment year. The previous action (10.1.03) ended on 30.09.2024.
