What it is
When the birth takes place outside a public maternity hospital — in a private clinic, contracted with EOPYY or not, or at home — EOPYY pays, instead of maternity care, a one-off cash payment: €900 for a single pregnancy, €1,200 for twins and €1,600 for triplets. It is paid once per birth. If you give birth in a public maternity hospital, your hospital care is covered as usual instead of the one-off amount. For a home birth you apply online, without visiting an EOPYY unit: log in with your Taxisnet credentials and choose «Ατομικά αιτήματα παροχών» (Individual benefit requests) → «Υποβολή» (Submit) → «Τοκετός στο σπίτι» (Home birth). You will need the supporting documents in electronic form, the IBAN of an account you hold alone or jointly, and a mobile phone number.
