What it is
On 7/10/2026 the Ministry of Rural Development and Food announced that the fishing-fuel subsidy the government had committed to pay professional fishers is doubled. It is 32 cents a litre (instead of 16) for April and May 2026 and 24 cents a litre (instead of 12) for June, July and August 2026, as de minimis (minor) aid.
The decision, the exact criteria (e.g. fishing licence, vessel, fuel receipts) and how and when the money is paid have not been announced yet. The government said it is examining extra funds for the following months and will make announcements within October.
