What it is
The Region of Crete grants financial support in the form of a loan interest-rate subsidy for the purchase of land by young farmers. You apply online, with Taxisnet credentials, to the Directorate of Agricultural Economy and Veterinary Medicine of the regional unit you choose (Heraklion, Chania, Rethymno or Lasithi).
Documents: a certificate from the regional unit's Directorate of Agricultural Development that you hold "Young Farmer" status; a farm business study (2 copies); a copy of your police ID; the purchase contract for the plots, or a solemn declaration with the details of the farm to be bought and an undertaking to submit the contract within 30 days of signing it. No fees. Processing time: 30 days from a complete application.
The amount of support is announced by the responsible body. According to gov.gr, "other regions will be added gradually".
