Hellenic Open University scholarships (excellence awards and full/partial tuition exemption on social criteria)
The Hellenic Open University exempts its students fully or partly from tuition fees, based on points for income, family situation, disability and performance, if taxable income does not exceed €50,000. It also grants excellence scholarships automatically to students with a grade of 8.5 or more in every module.

What it is
The Hellenic Open University (EAP) grants two kinds of scholarships under its Scholarship Regulation (version 17, in force from the 2023-2024 academic year). Social-criteria scholarships: full or partial exemption from the contribution to study costs (tuition) for the academic year applied for, based on a combination of financial, social and academic criteria (points). Undergraduate students may apply up to 6 years after their year of admission, and postgraduate students up to 3 years after their year of admission. Taxable income must not exceed €50,000, otherwise no scholarship is approved regardless of points. Your own income counts; if you are married or in a civil partnership, the income of both spouses counts. Parents' tax returns are not taken into account. Excellence scholarships: granted without an application to a share of the active students of each programme who take the maximum allowed number of modules and score 8.5 or more in each of them. The share of scholarship holders is set every year by the University's Governing Committee. There are two calls a year for the social-criteria scholarship: a winter call (2025-2026: from 01/12/2025 to 09/01/2026, 15:00) and a spring call for programmes organised in semesters (2025-2026: from 01/07 to 31/07/2026, 15:00).
