University of Ioannina bequest scholarships (Vimplis, Tsanakas, Karapanou, Mavrias, Kokkoros, Giannis, Agnantis)

The University of Ioannina, through its Property Development and Management Company (Bequests-Property Section), awards scholarships from the income of bequests and donations, with calls signed by the Rector. The July 2025 calls (for the 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 academic years) awarded 101 scholarships: Vimplis bequest 25 × €1,000 (low-income ethnic Greek students from Albania); Tsanakas 24 × €1,000 (low-income students from and living in Metsovo, otherwise the Ioannina prefecture, otherwise Epirus); Karapanou 8 × €500 (low-income students of all departments); Mavrias 3 × €400 (students with roots in Pogoni/Kourenta); Kokkoros 30 × €300 (top students or graduates for postgraduate studies, Erasmus or internships abroad); Giannis donation 11 × €900 (PhD candidates, 2024-2025). Final results were announced in December 2025. The next round for students has not been announced yet. Separately, the Agnantis bequest gives one €5,000 scholarship a year for further training in orthopaedics (orthopaedic trainees or new specialists); the 2025-2026 call was published on 28/8/2026. The student bequests require a department certificate of at least 20 ECTS in the winter semester, and financial need is judged from the tax assessment notice and the E9 form. Applications are due within 45 days of each call.
