What it is
A measure of the Support Programme for the Smaller Aegean Islands for beekeeping. The «smaller islands» are all the Aegean islands except Crete and Evia.
Who: active beekeepers with a beekeeping activity code (ΚΑΔ) who live permanently on the smaller islands, have their beekeeping base there and keep their hives permanently on those islands.
How much: a basic €4.00 per eligible hive per year, whatever honey you produce. In addition, €2.00 per hive for each kilo of your own honey per hive that you sold legally, up to €10.00 per hive. In total up to €14.00 per hive. For 2025 the scale was: 0.50–1.49 kg per hive → €2; 1.50–2.49 → €4; 2.50–3.49 → €6; 3.50–4.49 → €8; over 4.50 kg → €10. If the applications exceed the yearly budget of €1,800,000, the amounts are cut proportionally for everyone.
How to apply: every year from 1 September to 20 October, in the digital application of the Ministry of Rural Development and Food. A late application loses 1% for each working day of delay; after 25 days it is rejected. Payment is made by 30 June of the following year at the latest.
