What it is

On 22/9/2026 the Minister of Labour and Social Security pre-announced, in an interview on ANT1 published by the ministry, a new subsidised-employment programme for businesses that hire people who live in mountain and remote areas. According to the announcement, "the work will be done remotely" and "90% of the wage and social-security contributions will be subsidised for 12 months". On 12/10/2026 (interview on SKAI) the Minister referred again to the programme "for remote work in remote municipalities of the country".

On 29/9/2026 the Board of DYPA (decision 2414/81/29.09.2026) gave its opinion that the Ministry of Labour should be asked to issue a joint ministerial decision (ΚΥΑ) for the "pilot programme subsidising businesses to employ, through remote work, unemployed people aged 18 and over who live in mountain municipalities of the country". As of 2/11/2026 the ΚΥΑ has not been issued and DYPA has not published a call.

It has not been announced which municipalities count as mountain municipalities for the programme, how many jobs will be subsidised, the budget, the start date or how to take part. The terms will be set by the ΚΥΑ; this page will be updated when it is published.
