What it is
The Region of Central Greece, through its Regional Development Fund (Regional Social Inclusion Observatory – «GEFYRA» structure), gives a personal €300 meal card to first-year undergraduate students. The card covers food or catering purchases at partner shops. The action is funded by a sponsorship from ION S.A.; the 2025-2026 cycle was the sixth, with a budget of €50,000. Students may apply if they enrolled for the first time as first-years at a university, an Ecclesiastical Academy or a School of Fine Arts (not military or police academies, the Merchant Marine Academy or the Fire Academy), are aged 18 to 25, and their family permanently lives in the Region of Central Greece or they finished upper secondary school there. Household income must be below the ELSTAT poverty line (€6,510 a year for one person, +50% for a spouse and each child aged 14 to 24, +30% for each child under 14), raised by €2,000. Unprotected children who finished school in the Region apply without an income test. Applications are made online on the «GEFYRA» website or at its offices in Lamia, Amfissa, Karpenisi, Livadeia and Chalkida; applicants are ranked by points until the budget runs out. The 2025-2026 cycle is closed (applications until 21/12/2025, card usable until 29/5/2026). The next cycle has not been announced yet.
