What it is

The East Mani water utility adopted a new 2026-2031 tariff policy with social pricing for the permanent residents of the Municipality (board decision 207/2025, approved by the Municipal Committee with decision 368/2025). It covers:

  • Large families (by law a parent without a spouse with three children is also a large family), with an income up to €48,000: €0.49 per cubic metre up to 80 cubic metres, €1.32 from 81 to 100 and €2.84 above 100.
  • Single-parent families with minor children, with an income up to €25,000.
  • People aged 70 or over who live alone or with a spouse aged 70 or over, with an income up to €10,000 (the utility asks for a pension certificate).
  • Households with a person with a disability of 67% or more, with an income up to €45,000 (allowances included).

For the last three groups the first 50 cubic metres are not charged. If use goes above 50 cubic metres, all of it is charged at the household tariff: €0.49 up to 50, €1.32 from 51 to 100 and €2.84 above 100. The standing charge is €54 a year.

The special tariff lasts one year and is reviewed every year, only for the main home and only for one of the two partners of a couple.

For large families the decision says both «income up to €48,000» and «regardless of income»: if you have three or more minor children and an income above €48,000, ask the utility.
