What it is

The Delphi municipal water utility set the special-tariff criteria with board decision 5/32/2022 (approved by the Municipality's Finance Committee) and keeps them in its 2025-2029 tariff policy. The discount is 70% of water and sewerage charges, standing charges excluded:

  • Three-child families: for the first 60 cubic metres per four months, while the children are minors (or up to 25 if studying or doing military service); the water bill must be in the beneficiary's name.
  • Large families with up to five children, kidney patients, people with tetraplegia or paraplegia, and people with a disability of 50% or more: for the first 80 cubic metres per four months. With six children the first 100, with seven the first 120, and so on.
  • Large families, kidney patients, people with tetraplegia or paraplegia and people with a disability of 67% or more, also after the children grow up: for the first 70 cubic metres per four months.
  • Three-child families after the children grow up: 50% off the first 70 cubic metres per four months (Municipal Council decision 265/2025).
  • Destitute and long-term unemployed people (over one year): a special social tariff, with a household income up to €8,000, plus €1,000 with one child, €2,000 with two, €4,000 with three and €6,000 with four children and €1,000 more for each child beyond the fifth (children count if under 18, or up to 24 if studying or doing military service), provided they pay the bill or are on an instalment plan.

The disability tariffs also cover minor children or adults under legal guardianship who live permanently with the customer. By law a parent without a spouse with three children is also a large family. They apply to one water meter only and the documents are renewed every year.
