What it is
The Municipal Water and Sewerage Company of Drama (DEYAD) has social tariffs (tariff policy approved by the Drama Municipal Council with decision 600/2013 and amended in 2025). The discount is on the total of each bill:
- Large families (including a parent without a spouse with three children, whom the law treats as a large family): 60% off.
- Three-child and single-parent families: 30% off, if yearly family income does not exceed €12,000 raised by €2,000 with one child, €4,000 with two and €7,000 with three, and all children are minors, pupils, students or doing military service.
- People with paraplegia, deaf-mute people, people with severe intellectual disability, Down syndrome or cerebral palsy: 50% off.
- People with an 80% disability: 50% off.
- People with a disability of 67% or more who are blind, have thalassaemia, are kidney patients on dialysis or are on the autism spectrum, and families with two or more members with a disability of 67% or more: 50% off.
- Young couples (at least one spouse up to 35): free use up to 200 cubic metres a year for three years from the marriage (they pay only the minimum consumption).
- Young professionals up to 30 (sole proprietorship or company): free use up to 200 cubic metres a year for three years (they pay only the standing charge).
The discount is given for one property where the beneficiary is the owner or the account holder with DEYAD; when a family member living in the home has the disability, the account holder can be the beneficiary. The family-status certificate is brought every year by March. Also, for applications referred by the Drama municipal Social Service, the debt can be cut by up to 90% (income up to €3,000 a year) or by 50% (above €3,000).
