DEYA Lesvos gives 50% off up to 80 cubic metres per quarter to large families, disability 80%+ and the long-term unemployed, 30% off up to 60 to three-child families, disability 67%+ and single parents, and no charge up to 60 for the needy, within income and property limits.

Renew every year
The documents are renewed at the latest one month after the tax-return deadline; otherwise the special tariff stops.

What it is
The Inter-municipal Water and Sewerage Company of Lesvos (DEYAL), which covers the whole island (Municipalities of Mytilene and West Lesvos), has special tariffs for socially vulnerable groups:
- 50% off the water price up to 80 cubic metres per quarter: large families (including a parent without a spouse with three children, whom the law treats as a large family; family income up to €36,000, +€3,000 for each child after the first four), people with a disability of 80% or more (up to €22,000), long-term unemployed for over 12 months (up to €3,000; only single people or single parents, or a couple where both are unemployed).
- 30% off up to 60 cubic metres per quarter: three-child families (up to €30,000), people with a disability of 67% or more (up to €18,000), single-parent families (up to €18,000).
- No charge up to 60 cubic metres per quarter: the needy with an uninsured-person booklet from the Welfare service (income up to €3,000).
Property limits also apply: up to €100,000 for single people and €200,000 for married people, +€5,000 for each additional minor child (based on ENFIA). Income also counts adult children or parents living with you. The standing charge is billed as normal and use above the limit is billed at the normal tariff. The large/three-child tariff applies while the children are up to 18, or up to 24 if studying, and for life for a child with a disability over 67%.
To join you must have paid or settled your debts and hold a title deed, an endorsed lease or a free-use deed for the home. Applications are accepted until the end of November each year, with the previous year's income; the documents are renewed every year.
