What it is
The Municipal Water and Sewerage Company of Syros (DEYAS), which covers the whole island, has a separate, lower water tariff for large and three-child families and people with a disability over 75%.
Under the tariff in force since 2017 (decision 484/2016 of the Syros-Ermoupoli Municipal Council), beneficiaries pay per quarter €1.00 per cubic metre for the first 30 cubic metres (instead of €1.35) and €1.35 for 31-45 cubic metres (instead of €1.93); from 46 cubic metres up the prices are the same as the normal tariff. In the Ano Syros settlement the first band (0-30 cubic metres) costs €0.50 per cubic metre for beneficiaries.
In September 2026 the DEYAS board decided a tariff increase from the fourth quarter of 2026 that keeps the reduced tariff: €1.15 per cubic metre for the first 30 (normal €1.55) and €1.55 for 31-45 (normal €2.35), and abolishes the Ano Syros special price. The increase needs the municipality's approval; ask DEYAS which prices apply.
