One-off Special Grant for Electricity Reconnection for Vulnerable Households

National measure (Joint Ministerial Decision of the Ministry of Environment and Energy), run by each municipality: households whose electricity supply has been cut off because of debt, income up to €9,000 (+€4,500/member).

One-off coverage of the debt to the electricity supplier: debt up to €6,000 -> 100% covered; €6,001-€9,000 -> 75%; €9,001-€12,000 -> 50%; over €12,000 -> 30%

Household income up to €9,000 for a one-person household, €13,500 for 2 adults (or a single parent with 1 minor), €15,750 for 2 adults and 1 minor, €18,000 for 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 minors, €24,750 for 3 adults and 1 minor or 2 adults and 3 minors, €27,000 for 4 adults or 2 adults and 4 minors (in a single-parent family the first minor counts as an adult); beyond that +€4,500 per extra adult and +€2,250 per extra minor, up to €31,500; the limit rises by €8,000 with a member with a 67%+ disability and by €15,000 with a member on home life support

The household has overdue bills and was disconnected from the electricity network (main residence) by 31.12.2022, under the latest joint ministerial decision (Government Gazette B 276/2023), and is still disconnected when applying. You apply to your own municipality's committee or social service (every municipality in Greece).

What it is

Households whose electricity supply at their main residence has been cut off because of overdue debts and which remain disconnected until they apply. A national measure (Joint Ministerial Decision (JMD) of the Ministry of Environment and Energy/Ministry of Finance), with an income scale following the same logic as KEA (Guaranteed Minimum Income): up to €9,000 for a single-person household, +€4,500 per additional adult member, +€2,250 per additional minor member (with special limits of €24,750 for 3 adults and 1 minor or 2 adults and 3 minors, and €27,000 for 4 adults or 2 adults and 4 minors, from which the increments continue), maximum €31,500 (+€8,000 for a member with a disability of 67%+, +€15,000 for a member who depends on medical devices at home). One-off coverage of the debt to the electricity supplier, in bands. You apply to the competent committee/social service of your own municipality — every municipality in Greece runs its own application round after each new JMD/extension (for example, currently active in 25+ municipalities). Application period: national measure; each municipality opens its own application window after each new JMD/extension.
