Ask your municipality
Registration is with the municipalities that run programme camps, usually in spring. You need an application, a solemn declaration of income and family situation, and a medical certificate.

What it is
The State Camp Programme of the Ministry of Social Cohesion and Family runs every summer at camps organised and managed by municipalities, under a joint ministerial decision. Stays are free. It hosts children aged 6-16 (including children with a disability, with a medical certificate), older people in financial hardship or living alone, and adults with a disability. Greek citizenship or legal residence in Greece is required, and participants are selected on social and financial criteria. In 2025, 14 camps hosted 13,595 people (9,645 children, 2,130 people with disabilities, 1,820 older people); the Kalathas camp of the Municipality of Chania ran in 2026 under the programme. You register with the municipality that runs the camp. The summer 2026 cycle has ended and the next one has not been announced yet. Some municipalities also run their own free summer programmes, e.g. the free Rhodes SUMMER CAMP 2026 for children aged 9-11 (15-19 and 22-26 June 2026).
