How to apply
The steps to apply yourself. Free: you don’t need to pay anyone.
Required Documents
Usually the details gov.gr already holds about you are enough.
Step by step
- 1
Check if you qualify for A21
The benefit is for families with dependent children living permanently and legally in Greece (Greek citizens, EU/EEA and Swiss citizens, recognised refugees, stateless persons, holders of humanitarian status and other categories). Dependent children are unmarried children up to 18, up to 19 if in secondary education, and up to 24 if in higher education or with a disability of 67% or more. The amount depends on income and the number of children.

File your tax return (E1) first
The A21 application draws data from your tax return, so file this year's E1 first. If you apply before filing, the amount is calculated provisionally and is recalculated automatically once your return is assessed.
- 3
Prepare any supporting documents
Depending on your situation you may need a family status certificate, proof of studies for children over 18, a disability certificate if a child has a disability, or residence documents if you are a third-country national. Check that they are valid and in digital form so you can attach them.
- 4
Fill in and submit the A21 application
Log into the A21 platform with your TaxisNet credentials, confirm your AMKA, declare your family status, enter your children's details and your IBAN, attach any documents and submit. Check everything carefully before finalising: once finally submitted the application cannot be edited — if you spot a mistake, you can cancel it and submit a new one. For each child in compulsory education (pre-kindergarten to lower secondary school) you must enter the school, the class and the pupil's registration number; if the details cannot be cross-checked, the platform asks you to attach the required supporting document. For 2026, new applications and changes can be made until Friday 13 November 2026 at 18:00.

Track your payments
The benefit is paid in six two-monthly instalments into your bank account, usually on the last working day of the payment month, and is recalculated automatically when your tax return is assessed or amended.
- 6
Remember to renew it every year
A21 is not renewed automatically: you must submit a new application every year, after filing your new tax return.

What it is
The application is submitted online on the A21 platform (www.idika.gr/epidomapaidiou) with TAXISnet credentials, after the tax return has been filed.
For 2026 the A21 platform accepts new applications or changes until Friday 13 November 2026 at 18:00. Applications approved after checking will be paid with the November 2026 payment.
For each child in compulsory education (from pre-kindergarten to lower secondary school) the benefit is paid only if the child is enrolled in a school and actually attends, i.e. does not have to repeat the same year because of absences (article 214(17) of Law 4512/2018). In the application you enter the school, the class and the pupil's registration number for each such child.
When it is paid
Payment rule
Every two months, on the last working day of the payment month, into a bank account. Ahead of Christmas and Easter it may be paid up to 10 days earlier (art. 252, Law 5259/2025).
