What it is

DYPA (the Public Employment Service) is accepting applications for its seven Experimental Apprenticeship Schools (PEPAS) for the 2026-2027 school year, in three tourism and hospitality specialties: hotel receptionist, cook, and food-and-beverage service. The schools are in Athens (Kalamaki), Thessaloniki, Corfu, Heraklion, Mytilene, Patras and Rhodes.

Anyone aged 18 or over with at least a lower-secondary (Gymnasio) certificate or equivalent can enrol in the first year. The hotel receptionist specialty also requires certified good knowledge of English, French or German at B2 level.

Classes at the school run from November to April. The workplace apprenticeship runs from May to October in 4- and 5-star hotels, eight hours a day, five days a week, paid at 95% of the minimum daily wage (EUR 41.09 × 95% = EUR 39.04) with social insurance. Apprentices get free books, a monthly housing allowance of EUR 240 and a daily meal allowance of EUR 9 if they meet the conditions, study leave of up to 30 days with pay, and deferral of military service.
