IKY Excellence Awards (top-ranked university entrants and top graduates of each department)

IKY gives a one-off €1,000 and an honorary diploma to the top-ranked Panhellenic entrant of each university department and to the top graduate of each department who finished in the normal time. There is no application: the department office sends the details.

You enrolled with the highest score in your department/school from that year's Panhellenic exams, or you graduated first in your department without exceeding the normal length of studies.

What it is

The State Scholarships Foundation (IKY) gives two excellence awards: - To entrants: a one-off €1,000 to every first-year student who enrolled with the highest Panhellenic score in their school/department, provided they have not received for the same reason another cash award or scholarship from a public body above €500 in total (otherwise the award goes to the next student). The top 5 entrants of each department receive an honorary diploma. For 2025-2026 entrants the joint ministerial decision 129766/Z1/2025 (ΚΥΑ 129766/Ζ1/2025) applies; a new decision is issued every year. - To graduates: a one-off €1,000 and an honorary diploma to the top-scoring graduate of each university department, provided they did not exceed the normal length of studies (including the September resit session). In a tie, the graduate with more entry points wins. It covers graduates of the academic years 2023-24, 2024-25 and 2025-26 (decision 10449/Z1/2024, Greek: ΚΥΑ 10449/Ζ1/2024).

You do not apply: the department (or rectorate) office sends the winners' details to IKY. For the entrants' award IKY then emails the winners to enter their ID details and IBAN in its online application.
