How to apply
The steps to apply yourself. Free: you don’t need to pay anyone.
Required Documents
Usually the details gov.gr already holds about you are enough.
Step by step
- 1
Check that you meet the conditions
The support is granted by OPEKA and is for families (married couples, civil partnerships, single-parent families with minor children) — not for individuals without children. You must have lived permanently in a mountainous or disadvantaged area for at least 2 years before applying, annual family income must not exceed €4,700, and at least one member must hold Greek citizenship or that of an EU, EEA or Swiss state.

You don't need to gather documents in advance
When you apply online, income and residence data are pulled automatically from the tax authority (AADE), IDIKA and the Citizens' Registry. Only if those cross-checks are not enough will you be notified, and you then have two (2) months from that notice to hand in the extra documents at a Citizens' Service Centre (KEP).
- 3
Apply between 1 September and 30 October
The platform opens on 1 September each year and closes on 30 October. Log in with your Taxisnet credentials. If you are not comfortable online, you can go to a Citizens' Service Centre (KEP) and have an authorised officer submit it for you. You will need the IBAN of a bank account you hold.
Open the page - 4
Wait for the check and the payment
OPEKA checks the application and, if it is approved, the amount is credited as a single yearly payment to the IBAN you declared. Approval is not automatic — it depends on the result of the cross-checks with the competent authorities.
- 5
Each following year you confirm your details
You do not start from scratch every year. If your application is approved, the next year you will find a pending application already filled in on the platform, and you confirm it within the same window (1 September to 30 October) so the support continues.
