Ferry ticket discounts for substitute teachers travelling to their posting (school year 2026–2027)
Substitute primary and secondary school teachers get 20% to 50% off ferry tickets (and, with many companies, off the vehicle ticket) to travel to their posting, in set periods of the school year. You need your hiring/posting decision and your ID card.
30%–50% off the passenger ticket and 20%–50% off the vehicle ticket, depending on the company (school year 2026–2027)

What it is
Under a joint initiative of the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports and the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy, ferry companies give substitute primary and secondary school teachers up to 50% off to travel to their posting and back.
Travel periods (school year 2026–2027): 05/09–11/09/2026, 23/12/2026–07/01/2027, 23/04–09/05/2027 and 19/06–03/07/2027.
Discount by company: Attica Group 50% (Cyclades, Dodecanese, North-East Aegean, Saronic and Crete lines); SEAJETS 50% passenger and vehicle, through partner agencies only; Levante Ferries 50% passenger and vehicle; Minoan Lines 50% passenger and vehicle on Piraeus–Milos–Heraklion; Fast Ferries and Golden Star Ferries 30% passenger, 20% vehicle; Dodekanisos Seaways 30% passenger only; Liveditta 30%; Skyros Shipping 30% passenger and car on non-subsidised routes; Goutos Lines 50% for newly appointed teachers.
Bring your hiring or posting decision and your ID card. In 2025–2026 SKY Express also gave 30% off flights; this has not been announced for 2026–2027.
