What it is

OPEKA (Organisation for Welfare Benefits and Social Solidarity) pays the Social Solidarity Allowance for Uninsured Elderly People to persons aged 67 and over who are not entitled to a pension or other insurance benefit above the set limit. From 1/1/2026 the full amount is €418.95 a month. Individual and family income criteria apply, as do conditions of legal and permanent residence, and the amount is reduced gradually when 35 years of residence have not been completed.

When it is paid

Payment rule

On the last working day of each month. Ahead of Christmas and Easter it may be paid up to 10 days earlier, by decision of the Minister of Social Cohesion and Family (Law 4520/2018, art. 4(6)).
