What it is
The “Help at Home” (Voitheia sto Spiti) programme provides free home care to people over 65 who cannot fully look after themselves and to people with a KEPA-certified disability (Disability Certification Centre) of at least 67%. The services include individual counselling and psychological support, nursing care (checking vital signs, wound care), prescribing and delivery of medicines, help with dealing with public services and with transport to hospitals or diagnostic centres, house cleaning, buying essentials, paying bills and food distribution. It is run by the municipalities, with national and local-authority funding. You apply to the municipality where you live, with your identity card or passport, a copy of your tax return or tax assessment notice, and a family status certificate. Priority is given to people who live alone or lack adequate family care and to those on a low income.
