Pilot Student Public-Transport Pass Subsidy in Patras and Messolonghi (Region of Western Greece, 2026-2029)
The Region of Western Greece will subsidise the student pass on public transport in Patras and Messolonghi, on top of the existing student discount, for active students of the University of Patras and the University of the Peloponnese, for the academic years 2026-2027 to 2028-2029. The price has not been announced.

What it is
The Region of Western Greece includes in its Regional Development Programme 2026-2030 a pilot action (MIS 5229453) for a reduced student-pass price on public transport, on top of the existing student discount. It is for active undergraduate and postgraduate students of the University of Patras and the University of the Peloponnese who study in Patras and Messolonghi, for the academic years 2026-2027, 2027-2028 and 2028-2029, with a target of 7,550 beneficiaries and a budget of €3,000,000.
For 2026-2027 the sub-projects cover the Patras city buses (Astiko KTEL, €700,000), the Patras suburban railway (€48,000) and the Messolonghi city buses (€60,000). The years 2027-2028 and 2028-2029 (Patras city buses, €2,192,000) depend on a state-aid notification. The price or subsidy per pass and how to get it have not been announced yet.
