What it is
The Municipality of Ioannina has a contract with Astiko KTEL Nomou Ioanninon SA so that all University of Ioannina students can buy the monthly unlimited-ride card for 20.00 EUR instead of the 35.00 EUR that applied before the contract. For each card the municipality pays 10 EUR and the bus company gives a further 5 EUR discount. It covers students in study years n to n+2 of 4-year undergraduate programmes, or up to n+3 of 5- and 6-year programmes. The University sends the lists of eligible students to the municipality and the bus company, and they are updated every month. A new contract, approved by the Municipal Council in October 2026, covers the cards from October 2026 to September 2027. It continues the contracts of the previous years (Municipal Council decisions 318/2024 and 278/2025).
