What it is

Working pupils, students of state-supervised vocational institutes (IEK), undergraduates and postgraduates insured with e-EFKA (formerly IKA-ETAM) who work for businesses, social-economy bodies or other private-sector employers are entitled, on top of their normal leave, to extra unpaid leave to sit exams at their school. DYPA pays for those days, based on the minimum daily wage.

- Undergraduates and public IEK students: up to 30 days a year, only for exams at the place and time set by the school. Students over 28 are covered for the normal years of study plus 2. Up to 30 days also apply to exams for a second degree. - Postgraduates: up to 10 days a year, only for exams, for studies of up to 2 years.

Not covered: students of foreign institutions who submit their work online (distance learning), postgraduates beyond 2 years of study, students of other vocational training centres, and normal leave days used for exams. Working days plus exam-leave days cannot exceed the days your employer has insured you for.

Documents are due by 31 March of the following year at the DYPA office (KPA2) of the area where the business (or branch) you work for is located, not where you live.
