Required Documents
Usually the details gov.gr already holds about you are enough.
Step by step
- 1
Check whether you can join the mechanism
The Code of Conduct concerns eligible loan claims above EUR 1,000 for individuals or EUR 5,000 for legal persons and very small enterprises, owed to a bank or loan servicer. There is no child requirement or single income or property threshold. It is a different procedure from the Out-of-Court Mechanism under Law 4738/2020, and should not be confused with it.

Prepare your supporting documents
You will need TAXISnet codes and your consent to lift bank and tax secrecy, so the platform can retrieve your income, property and debt data itself. You also need a Single Certificate of Judicial Solvency and, if it applies to you, a vulnerable-debtor certificate issued within the last 3 months. Your criminal record is obtained by the authorities automatically — you do not submit it.
- 3
Submit the application on the online platform
The application is made online only, with TAXISnet codes, through the Code of Conduct platform on gov.gr, to one financial institution per application. After you submit, the platform gathers your data from banks, AADE and the social security funds.

Go through the negotiation process
Based on the data collected, a settlement proposal is drawn up and the creditors vote on it (about 20 days). If it passes, you have roughly 10 days to accept or reject it. Creditors are not obliged to agree, so a settlement is never guaranteed. The whole process usually takes around 6 months.
- 5
What applies if the settlement is approved
The settlement is activated when you pay the first instalment and may spread repayment over many instalments (up to 420, depending on the creditor). As long as you keep up the instalments, enforcement measures (seizures, auctions) are suspended and you can obtain tax and social-security clearance. If your application is rejected, you can look for another route, such as negotiating directly with your creditor.

What it is
The Code of Conduct is a statutory out-of-court procedure between a borrower and a bank or loan servicer, and it is different from the Out-of-Court Mechanism of Law 4738/2020. It covers, among others, housing and consumer loans, credit cards and loans of self-employed professionals or very small businesses. It concerns total claims of more than €1,000 for natural persons and more than €5,000 for legal persons–very small businesses, subject to the exceptions in the official framework. You apply with your TAXISnet credentials to one lender per application. The proposal is assessed individually and may include an extension of the term, a reduced instalment, interest-only payments for a period, splitting of the debt or write-off of part of the claim; no specific write-off is guaranteed.
