What it is
The Municipality of Kassandra sets for 2026 a reduced rate on the water and sewerage charges (and new connections) for vulnerable groups of permanent residents, for their main home, with no income criteria (Municipal Council decision 212/2025):
- The needy: 50%. You must be on the welfare registers and, if you own your home, it must be your only property.
- Large families (registered with ASPE): 50%.
- People with a disability of 67% or more (adults or dependants in the family): 50%.
- Three-child families (Law 3454/2006): 30%.
The discount applies to annual use up to 200 cubic metres. You need a title deed or a lease for the home. For the needy, large and three-child families the water meter must be in your or your spouse's name. At the start of each year you file a solemn declaration that nothing changed, plus the tax return or assessment.
