What it is
By decision 6/2026 of the Municipal Committee, approved by the Municipal Council (decision 7/2026), the Municipality of Troizinia-Methana keeps for 2026 a 60% cut in the municipal cleaning and lighting charges and in the water and sewerage charges for vulnerable groups.
Who qualifies (permanent residents registered in the municipal rolls):
- families with an adult or dependant with a disability of 67% or more, with household income up to €15,000;
- large families registered with ASPE, with household income up to €25,000 plus €2,000 for each child beyond the fourth;
- parents the law treats as a large family with three children (a parent without a spouse, or a parent with a disability of 67% or more), with household income up to €25,000;
- three-child families with household income up to €15,000 (the children unmarried and under 23, or under 25 if studying or doing military service, or with a disability of 67% or more);
- single-parent families with household income up to €15,000;
- needy people and people in extreme poverty (e.g. recipients of the Minimum Guaranteed Income or of the rent or food subsidy of Law 4320/2015), under the criteria of joint decision 494/2015: household income up to €2,400 for one person, up to €3,600 for a couple or a parent with one child and €600 more for each further dependant, up to €6,000; real estate up to €90,000 per person (+€15,000 per extra adult, +€10,000 per minor, up to €200,000) and deposits up to twice the income limit.
The cut covers the main home only, not shops or business premises. The water or electricity bill must be in your name; if you rent and the bill is not in your name, you need a solemn declaration by the owner that the meter belongs to the home you rent. Updated documents are submitted at the start of each year. The decision is renewed every year.
