What it is

The cuts and exemptions of the Municipality of Oropos for vulnerable groups were set by council decision 5/2012 and amended by decision 142/2017. With decision 201/2025 on the 2026 charges, the council keeps them for all residents of the municipality, not only registered citizens.

For the first and main home, on the water, cleaning and lighting charges:

  • single-parent families: 50% off (up to five children) or 70% (more than five children) with household income below €80,000; exemption with income below €7,000 (for water up to 150 m³ a year);
  • three-child families: 30% off with income below €80,000; 50% with income below €7,000;
  • large families: 50% off (up to five children) or 70% (more than five) with income below €80,000; exemption with income below €7,000;
  • needy families, as defined by law and by the social service's assessment: exemption;
  • families with a person with a disability of 80% or more, with income below €12,000: exemption;
  • holders of the PPC (DEI) social electricity tariff: 50% off.

Income is the actual assessed income of the previous year. The cuts do not cover the water-network maintenance fee. You apply to the municipality's Revenue Department and the documents are renewed every five years.
