Alonissos: reduction or exemption from water, cleaning-lighting and cesspit fees for vulnerable groups
The Municipality of Alonissos fully exempts needy people and people with a disability of 80% or more, and cuts by 50% for large and three-child families, disability 67% and over, single parents, the long-term unemployed and GMI recipients, the water, cleaning-lighting and cesspit-emptying fees of the main home.

Every year, by 30 September, you bring the documents again without being reminded, otherwise the reduction is lost.

What it is
The Municipality of Alonissos reduces or waives the cleaning and lighting fees, the water fee and the cesspit-emptying fee for vulnerable groups (Municipal Council decision 149/2019, still applied in 2026).
- Needy people, with a certificate from the social service: 100% exemption.
- People with a disability of 80% or more: 100% exemption; 67% or more: 50% reduction. Yearly family income limit €9,000, +€1,000 for each family member besides the applicant (disability allowances not counted). It covers families where a member, adult or dependant, has a disability.
- Large families with four or more dependent children (ASPE) and three-child families: 50% reduction, with income up to €9,000 +€1,000 for each member besides the applicant (large-family allowances not counted).
- Single-parent families: 50% reduction, with income up to €9,000 +€1,000 for each dependant.
- The long-term unemployed (over one year, on the DYPA register): 50% reduction, with income up to €9,000 +€1,000 for each member besides the applicant.
- GMI recipients (formerly KEA): 50% reduction.
It applies to one home, the main one, up to 100 m² (120 m² for large and three-child families), owned, rented or provided free of charge. Besides the main home only one holiday home, plots, fields and outbuildings are allowed; more property means rejection. The electricity bill must be in your name or a relative's up to the 2nd degree (or you need a lease). The documents are updated at the Revenue Department by 30 September each year, otherwise the reduction is lost.
