Kea: 60% (85% in extreme poverty) cut in cleaning-lighting and water-sewerage fees

For 2026 the Municipality of Kea cuts the cleaning-lighting and water-sewerage fees of the main home by 60% for needy people, people with disabilities, large and three-child families, single-parent families and the long-term unemployed, and by 85% for people living in extreme poverty.

What it is

For 2026 the Municipality of Kea approves a reduction of the cleaning-lighting and water-sewerage fees (Municipal Council decision 111/2025). It applies to permanent residents registered in the Kea municipal roll and only to the main home (not to shops or business premises).

60% reduction:

  • needy people with a certificate of poverty, registered with the welfare service;
  • large families registered with ASPE, with yearly family income up to €25,000, +€2,000 for each dependant beyond four children;
  • families with a member with a disability over 67%, with yearly family income up to €15,000;
  • three-child families, with yearly family income up to €15,000;
  • single-parent families, with yearly family income up to €15,000;
  • the long-term unemployed (unemployed for over 12 months, registered with DYPA), with yearly family income up to €6,000.

85% reduction: people living in extreme poverty, i.e. recipients of the benefits of Law 4320/2015 (rent subsidy, food support or free electricity).

The water or electricity bill must be in your name; if you rent and the water bill is not in your name, a declaration by the owner is needed. The documents are filed with the Municipality's Finance Department and updated at the start of each year.
