Exemption or 50% cut in the fixed water charge for vulnerable groups (Municipality of Konitsa, 2026)
The Municipality of Konitsa exempts from the fixed water charge needy people, the long-term unemployed and people with a disability above 80%, and halves it for a disability of 67%-80% and for single-parent families, with low income limits, for a main home of up to 150 m².

What it is
By council decision 93/2025 on the 2026 water and sewerage charges, the Municipality of Konitsa cuts the fixed water charge for vulnerable groups:
- people in complete destitution and the long-term unemployed, with annual household income up to €3,000 or €4,500 (the decision gives both, see below): exemption from the fixed charge;
- people with a disability above 80%, with personal income up to €4,500 or household income up to €9,450 for families caring for a disabled person: exemption from the fixed charge;
- people with a disability of 67%-80%, with the same income limits: 50% off the fixed charge;
- single-parent families with children under 18 (or under 24 if they study or do military service) and household income up to €9,450: 50% off the fixed charge.
The cuts apply to the family's first main home of up to 150 m² and from the day of the application with the documents. The limit for the needy and the long-term unemployed is written in the decision as «τριών χιλιάδων ευρώ (4.500,00 €)», that is €3,000 in words and €4,500 in figures; confirm with the municipality which one applies.
