What it is
You are insured with EOPYY (National Organisation for the Provision of Health Services) · You are on haemodialysis (kidney patient). EOPYY pays a monthly allowance for travel to haemodialysis (EKPY (EOPYY Unified Health Benefits Regulation) art. 47 B, Government Gazette (FEK) B 2106/02.05.2025): Athens, Piraeus €255 a month; Thessaloniki €245; Heraklion, Patras €160; other urban centres €150; outside urban centres, for a distance from your home to the nearest dialysis centre of up to 50 km €440, 50-80 km €590 and over 80 km €850. The full amount corresponds to 12 or more dialysis sessions a month; with fewer, it is reduced proportionally. You need a medical opinion from the director or scientific head of the unit confirming the condition and the dialysis sessions. This is separate from the general compensation of €0.20/km per journey that the same article provides for every insured person who travels outside their prefecture for treatment not available locally. Application period: no fixed deadline.
