What it is
The grant is suspended: the Municipality of Gavdos revoked its decision (29/09/2026) until its appeal is decided. Decision 21/2026 was revoked by municipal council decision 23/2026, pending the decision on the Municipality's appeal against the annulment of decision 4/2026 by the Decentralised Administration of Crete. The terms below applied until the revocation.
The Municipality of Gavdos pays a one-off grant of €3,000 for every child born on or after 1 July 2026. It is for families in which, when the child is born, at least one parent is a registered citizen of the Municipality of Gavdos and the family has its permanent residence on Gavdos. The annual taxable family income (latest assessed E1 tax return) must not exceed €20,000, a limit that rises by €10,000 for each child already in the family: €20,000 for a first child, €30,000 for a second, €40,000 for a third and so on. If the parents are separated or divorced, the parent with parental responsibility or custody receives it. The grant is paid regardless of the state birth allowance of OPEKA.
